Onyx likely had a challenging start in life, as she was rescued from the euthanasia list at an overcrowded shelter. Since her rescue, she’s been showing everyone just how special she is. She’s currently being fostered in San Antonio.
Ideal Home
Because Onyx is a mature lady with a bit of arthritis, she enjoys a more relaxed lifestyle. She would thrive in a household with a semi-active to low activity level, where she can enjoy short walks and plenty of quiet time. She loves a good walk and will happily trot along until she gets a little tired, then she's ready to settle in for some much-deserved pets and a cozy nap.

Onyx has a bit of arthritis, so we recommend a home that can accommodate a slower pace and potentially provide joint supplements as needed. She is spayed, vaccinated, and up-to-date on all preventatives.
Training & Support
Onyx is house-trained and sleeps in her crate at night by choice. She can also be crated for up to 10 hours if necessary. She does not resource guard or show food aggression and can be trusted to free roam the house without being destructive. She gets along well with other dogs and enjoys playing with them, though she can get a bit excited on leash when meeting new dog friends. While she hasn't been around cats, she has done well with respectful children ages 7-12 and would do best with older, dog-savvy children.

Transportation
Onyx is currently located in San Antonio, Texas. She can be transported to approved adopters out of state. Transports occur every few weeks, and approved adopters will be placed on the next available transport.
