Ernie is a neutered, 8-year-old male Pittie/Cattle Dog mix weighing around 63lbs. He's a goofy, chill gentleman who gets excited for walks and playdates. Ernie was found running down a busy street and, despite being microchipped, his previous owner did not want him back. He was clearly loved before and is a true gem of a dog, eager to find his forever home. He gets along wonderfully with every human and animal he's met, wagging his tail and hoping to make new friends. Ernie is a gentle playmate who goes with the flow and has even let his smaller foster sibling boss him around. He shows interest in cats without aggression and is believed to be gentle enough for children, provided they are aware he is a bigger dog. Ernie is house-trained and walks well on a leash. He dislikes crates and will try to escape, but he is not destructive when left unsupervised. While he may whine or howl for a few minutes when crated and knows you are home, he calms down with treats or commands. Ernie is a social dog who enjoys being by your side and would be a great fit for many different homes, whether with kids, other pets, an older couple, or even a first-time dog owner. This senior dog has a lot of love left to give and is looking for his pack.
Ideal Home
Ernie would thrive in a home where he can be included in family activities. He is believed to be good with children and other pets, and could be a good fit for a first-time dog owner.
Ongoing Health
Ernie is currently heartworm negative.
