Dagger is a 6.5-month-old spayed female Retriever/Pit Bull mix who currently weighs 40 pounds and is expected to be a large dog when fully grown. She was rescued from the woods with her littermates and mom, Wanda, and has grown up in a loving foster home. Dagger is named for the distinctive dagger-shaped white marking on her neck. She's a playful, affectionate, and confident pup who enjoys a good adventure but also loves to cuddle. Dagger is potty trained, friendly with strangers, and enjoys playing with other dogs. She has been around children and has done well.
Ideal Home
Dagger is an adolescent dog who is still learning about the world. We are looking for a family committed to reinforcing good manners, building her confidence, and helping her mature into an exceptional adult dog. She would thrive in a home with another friendly, well-mannered dog to help mentor her, but we will consider homes without another dog if you have a proactive plan for continued socialization. Because she is still young, we also prefer homes where someone isn't routinely away for more than four to six hours at a time. Dagger is a talented escape artist, so a secure enclosure is a must.

Training & Support
Dagger is potty trained and continues to learn. Ongoing positive reinforcement, consistency, and continued leash practice will help her thrive. Continued socialization is very important for her development.

- If you are a potential adopter and you are interested in Dagger, you will be connected with the placement for a video chat once you complete the initial screen.
- Transports run every few weeks, and we will have the dog on the next available transport once approved. If you are not able to accept a dog until a specific time period, please apply at that time.
- If we think you might be a good fit, we will reach out to coordinate a phone interview.
- This is followed by a video call with the foster home.
- Virtual home visit, personal, and vet reference checks are required to complete the process.
