Addie is a big gentle baby who would love nothing more than to be a lap dog, though she knows she's a bit too big for that! She is sweet and submissive with her foster sisters and host dogs. She was abandoned on a windy and rainy Easter and ended up on her foster mom's front patio. She waited patiently all day for her owners to return. After a brief run around the neighborhood, Addie allowed her foster mom to bring her inside. It was clear from the start that this sweet girl had been used for breeding and was likely discarded when she was no longer profitable.
Addie was very scared and hesitant to come inside for several days, clearly having never been in a home before. She was also quite filthy, indicating she likely lived in very unsanitary conditions. Her foster mom introduced her to toys, which Addie adored, and taught her to fetch. While playing, Addie slipped and fell into the pool. Her foster mom was right there to help her out, but the incident revealed Addie had likely never had a bath and may have lived in an environment where she was constantly exposed to her own waste.
Since then, Addie has slowly begun to trust her foster mom and has blossomed into the best dog! She is loving and sweet, even bowing down to the alpha Chihuahua in the household. She enjoys running in the yard and rolling in the grass. While no food aggression has been observed, it's always recommended to feed new dogs separately until introductions are safely established.
Addie shows no interest in the cat in the home, who is kept separated but visible through a doggy gate. She does bark when she hears the door, a loud car, or when pool service is being performed, but she stops when told. She offers plenty of kisses if asked, but is otherwise reserved. She tolerates nail trims well and has been good when kenneled, suggesting she had prior experience in one. Addie uses the doggy door and potties in the backyard. She hasn't had much leash experience, but when she has, she hasn't pulled. She is a sweet girl ready to be spoiled and leave her past behind for a happy future.
