Meet Madison! This sweet little Chihuahua mix has overcome a lot. She came from a heartbreaking hoarding situation where she lived in a small trailer with 51 other dogs. Thankfully, family stepped in to help, and with the support of Worthy Dog, the number of dogs has been significantly reduced. Madison arrived in her foster home shy and overwhelmed by the world outside her previous isolated environment. She spent her first few days in her crate, cautiously observing her new surroundings.
With patience and consistency in a quiet, rural foster home, Madison began to gain confidence. She learned to trust her foster mom, followed her from room to room, enjoyed cuddles, and even started playing with the other dogs in the house, showing her newfound joy. Madison has since moved to a local foster home in Northern Virginia, and while the adjustment to a busier area is another big step, she's taking it at her own pace. She's still learning that everyday sounds and situations aren't something to fear and remains cautious around strangers and unfamiliar places. Madison is house-trained and crate-trained, and while she's building confidence with leash walking, she's not quite ready for neighborhood strolls.
Ideal Home
Madison is looking for a calm home where she can continue to build her confidence. A quiet, low-traffic neighborhood is a must; city living, apartments, or busy communities would be too overwhelming. A securely fenced yard is strongly preferred, allowing her to safely explore and gain confidence at her own pace. A calm, confident resident dog would be a wonderful companion for Madison, providing her with a role model to learn from. Above all, she needs an adopter who understands that building trust takes time and that her evolution into a happy companion will be incredibly rewarding.

Madison is house-trained and crate-trained. She is still building confidence with leash walking and may need continued support in this area. Patience and consistency will be key as she continues to learn and grow.

Madison is currently in Fairfax, VA. Worthy Dog Rescue is an all-volunteer, foster-based rescue that primarily adopts to families in the DC Metro area, and transportation to approved adopters within this region may be available.
