Scuttlebutt

Scuttlebutt, affectionately called Scutty, is a loving, loyal Great Dane/Labrador Retriever mix with a moderate energy level and a heart full of affection. This large lapdog enjoys cuddling, walks, yard exploration, toys—especially his squeaky reindeer—and relaxing beside his people. He rides beautifully in the car, walks nicely on leash, and has an adorable excited prance and head-tilting habit when watching dog videos.

Scutty is friendly with adults, teenagers, and older children, and warmly greets visitors. He is house-trained with a consistent schedule and communicates through endearing whines. He enjoys wearing hoodies and coats in cold weather.

Ideal Home

Scutty needs a patient, loving home with companionship, consistency, and gentle guidance. Someone should be home most of the time, bring him along frequently, or provide a compatible canine companion. He is reactive toward unfamiliar dogs and needs very slow, structured introductions. Once comfortable, he can be affectionate and playful with dogs; he currently lives happily with a female Golden Retriever and may do best with a calm female dog.

He experiences separation anxiety, becomes distressed when left alone for long periods or in a kennel, and may need reassurance during storms and high winds. He can also become fearful if a leash tangles around him or during sudden movements.

Ongoing Health

Scutty is currently being treated for heartworm. With proper treatment, this is not expected to be a lasting hindrance.

Training & Support

Scutty is house-trained, walks well on leash, and rides calmly in the car. His new family should continue using patient, compassionate support, consistent routines, and careful introductions as he builds confidence and security.
