Meet Scuttlebutt! Scutty, as he's affectionately known by his foster family, is a true lovebug with an overflowing heart. If you're searching for a loyal companion who cherishes affection, Scutty might be your perfect match. This handsome boy is a cuddle bug, happy to curl up in your lap for hours. He thrives on being close to his people, soaking up all the attention and companionship. Scutty forms deep bonds and simply wants to be part of your everyday life. He has a moderate energy level, enjoying walks, yard explorations, and occasional zoomies, but is equally content with long naps. A truly adorable trait is the happy little prance he does when excited, and his obsession with toys, especially his favorite squeaky reindeer. Scutty also has a peculiar habit of tilting his head while watching dog videos on YouTube, a sight that's sure to bring a smile to your face.
He's friendly and affectionate with everyone, doing wonderfully with adults, teenagers, and older children he's met. He currently lives with a teenage girl and adores her. Scutty greets strangers and visitors with affection and friendliness. While not a big barker, he's a talker in his own way, engaging in "whine conversations" to communicate his feelings.
Ideal Home
Scuttlebutt needs a home where someone is present most of the time, can take him along frequently, or has another compatible dog for companionship and comfort, as he struggles with separation anxiety and becomes distressed when left alone for extended periods. He would do best with a calm female canine companion if another dog is present in the home.
Ongoing Health
Scuttlebutt is currently being treated for heartworms. With proper treatment, this will not be a hindrance.
Training & Support
Scuttlebutt is house-trained, but does best with a consistent schedule as he doesn't always signal when he needs to go outside. He can be reactive toward unfamiliar dogs and requires very slow, structured introductions. He may become fearful if a leash gets tangled around him or during sudden movements and seeks reassurance during storms and high winds, suggesting he may have experienced harsh handling in the past. Patience, consistency, and gentle guidance will help him build confidence and security.
