For most of his nine years, Blinky's world was limited to a small room shared with his owner at a care facility. Because of this, he can understandably be a little shy when meeting new people. But it doesn't take long before he'll be asking you for pets and hoping you'll let him sit on your lap!
Shortly after becoming a Frosted Face, 15 lb. Blinky went on a two-week Frosted Fling to help us learn more about him. Then, he was scooped up to live in a foster home, where he spent over a month. The reviews are in, and his foster families agree: Blinky is an absolute gem! Here's what makes this adorable little guy such a catch:
Blinky is an loving, loyal boy who loves being part of whatever his people are doing. Whether it's a walk, hike, restaurant outing, or a quiet evening on the couch, Blinky is happiest by your side. He bonds quickly, loves hearing his name, knows commands like "sit," "stay," and "leave it." At mealtime, this smart cookie stays on his bed and politely waits until his foster mom says it's "okay" to come eat. He's also a great work-from-home buddy, and he naps right next to his foster mom while she's working.
Don't let his age fool you - Blinky has plenty of pep in his step and is always ready for an adventure. He hops into the car with ease, enjoys daily walks, and makes an excellent hiking buddy. In fact, this little guy has happily tackled hikes of more than 3.5 miles and literally lights up when he sees his foster mom put on her sneakers! Blinky has also done great at restaurants, stores, and small dog playdates.
At home, Blinky is calm, relaxed, and fully potty-
trained. He has no separation anxiety and is content to snooze on the couch while waiting for his family to return. He has done well with cats, kittens, small dogs, and children, including toddlers. With new visitors, he may bark at first, but he settles quickly once introductions are made and has been comfortable around larger gatherings of people (including yoga class!) and dogs.
Blinky's most recent foster mom notes that they worked with great success on his habit of barking on walks when he sees big dogs. By telling Blinky to "leave it" as soon as he spots the dog, he will continue walking without barking or much pulling 90% of the time. Keep up the good work, Blinky!
If you're looking for a sweet little sidekick who will happily join you on walks, adventures, and cozy evenings at home, Blinky may be the perfect match.
