Meet Pepper, a resilient, affectionate girl whose journey has taken her from a Texas porch to the Pacific Northwest — and now she’s ready for the forever home she truly deserves. Pepper’s story began when a kind stranger found her curled up on his front porch at just six months old. Wanting the very best for her, he drove her all the way to Oregon, where she spent a few months in foster care. Unfortunately, during that time she was attacked by two dogs while tethered, and it left her feeling unsure around unfamiliar dogs and contributed to some rough-around-the-edges manners. But Pepper is nothing if not determined. After moving to the Seattle area, she completed a board and train program, and she’s made incredible progress. She’s smart, eager to please, and with a bit more training she could easily become the best behaved kid on the block. Pepper is about 2.5 years old and weighs 50 lbs.
Ideal Home
Pepper thrives in a predictable, peaceful environment, so she’s looking for a home outside the city with a secure fenced yard where she can relax, explore, and feel safe. She’d enjoy having a large, balanced, playful dog brother or a friend to play with sometimes. She loves canine companionship but does not like to be overwhelmed. She is not a throw into a dog park and let all the dogs chase her kind of a gal. Her favorite game is to chase and be chased, preferably by no more than 2 dogs. She would be happy to have a small circle of dog friends her size or larger, especially those who are easygoing and playful. She doesn't realize her size so in play, she may use her paws which can be too rough for little dogs.
Ongoing Health
Pepper is vetted and microchipped.
Training & Support
Pepper completed a board and train program and has made incredible progress. She’s smart, eager to please, and with a bit more training she could easily become the best behaved kid on the block. She was attacked by two dogs while tethered, which left her feeling unsure around unfamiliar dogs and contributed to some rough-around-the-edges manners. She often uses the snarling snaps of the elderly chihuahua she is currently fostered with as a cue to play, and she dodges and teases him.
