About Annie
Annie is a sweet, spunky Shih Tzu and poodle mix, about 3-4 months old and weighing 7 lbs. She's expected to reach around 20 lbs when fully grown. Annie is affectionate, loving, and thrives on attention from her humans. She's naturally curious and confident, always eager to explore new things and meet new people and furry friends. Her social and adaptable personality makes her a wonderful companion for an active family who wants their pup involved in daily life, but she's also content to relax and cuddle. Whether playing with her foster siblings, cuddling with her foster mom, or amusing herself with toys, Annie is a happy pup who balances playful energy with a laid-back demeanor. She's great at entertaining herself, playing with toys or napping in her dog bed. Annie would fit beautifully into a variety of homes, whether active or quiet, as long as she's with her loved ones.
Ideal Home
Annie would love an active family that enjoys walks, exploring outdoors, and including her in everyday activities. She would also be equally happy with a family that enjoys cozy evenings at home filled with snuggles. She would love a fenced yard for playtime and mental stimulation. She would thrive with another playful, friendly dog and some kids to play with, but would also be content as an "only child" if she receives plenty of love and attention. A home with a human who works from home or has a hybrid schedule is ideal, but she can adapt with a dog walker or doggy daycare if needed. She would love a toy box full of squeaky toys, ropes, and chew toys, and would be thrilled to receive new surprises regularly, especially as she begins to teethe. Annie would prefer to avoid public dog parks.
Ongoing Health
Annie is up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipped, and on flea/tick/heartworm prevention. She has received all necessary veterinary care while in the rescue's care. She is starting to teethe, so her new family will need to monitor her to ensure she doesn't chew on human toys.
Training & Support
Annie is kennel trained and potty trained. She alerts her foster family when she needs to go outside by circling at the back door, and a doggy doorbell is recommended for her new home. She will need a consistent schedule and to be taken out every few hours initially in her new environment. She has started leash training and will need additional practice to perfect her skills. She is generally good with dogs, cats, and kids. She knows how to respect boundaries with older dogs but might be too much for a senior dog not used to puppy energy. She can be wiggly when excited and picked up, so older children experienced with smaller breeds are recommended. She is friendly towards cats and would do well in a home with a dog-friendly cat that has lived with dogs before. If she is the only dog, frequent playdates or doggy daycare a couple of times a week is recommended for positive social interaction.
