Flora is a delightful 3-year-old, spayed female Carolina Dog mix who weighs 46 pounds. Affectionately nicknamed Flora, Flory, Lory, or Sweetpea, she's a playful and energetic girl who loves to wrestle and be chased. Flora is a total love bug who enjoys snuggling, sunbathing, and birdwatching. She's also a smart cookie who loves learning new tricks and is very submissive and affectionate. While she can be a work in progress, Flora will reward you with years of love and companionship!
Ideal Home
Flora would thrive in a moderately active home where her humans are often around. She'd love a home with no other pets or a well-balanced dog of similar age, size, and energy level. While she enjoys interacting with other dogs and has experience with a variety of sizes, she requires slow and guided introductions. Flora also gets spooked by new children and has stranger danger with new people, especially if they move quickly. Because of this, she may prefer an adult household where she can feel safe and secure.
Ongoing Health
Flora is a healthy girl who is up-to-date on all vaccinations and spayed. She has shown some anxiety in the crate at home, but does not have issues when boarded.
Training & Support
Flora has shown some leash reactivity, including raised hair, whimpering, and barking when encountering other dogs on walks. Her foster parents have been working with her using positive reinforcement, and she has made progress, especially in calmer environments. She will need a dedicated owner who will continue her training to help her feel more confident around new dogs and stimuli. She also needs reminders to take treats gently. Flora is fully housebroken and has no issues with being unsupervised outside of a crate.
