Bella is a happy, senior gal with lots of puppy still in her! She needs a few weeks to adapt to new people and situations, and may experience some separation anxiety initially, possibly with a bit of barking. However, once she feels secure in her loving forever home, her wonderful personality truly blossoms. She delights in rolling on her dog bed with a huge smile, playing with toys, and happily running through the house. Bella has a vast appetite, so her meals will need to be regulated to manage her weight – she has a couple of pounds to lose, making it great that she walks well on a leash. She seems to have some difficulty with stairs, which may be related to her weight. Bella also enjoys car rides and is house-trained, though she also utilizes a large pee pad. She knows commands like "no," "come here," "ride," "go outside," and "hungry," and we're discovering more as we get to know her. Bella loves being petted and having her tummy rubbed when she’s on her back. While she's generally okay with other dogs, she prefers to be the sole focus of attention and will need significant time to bond with another canine companion. Her compatibility with cats and children is currently unknown. Bella came to us because her previous owner could no longer care for her due to health reasons. She arrived with her companion, Chipper, who sadly passed away. Bella does have some ongoing health issues that are being managed.
