Nikko is a sweet and loving 5-year-old Treeing Walker Coonhound. He was rescued five years ago after being abandoned as a puppy and fending for himself for his first year. Nikko is crate-trained (he actually puts himself to bed in his crate when he's tired!) and house-trained. If he needs to go outside of his normal schedule, Nikko excels at letting you know by placing his head in your lap and giving you puppy-dog eyes.

Nikko has been a sweet, smart, and funny companion for our 10-year-old. When they chase each other around, Nikko loves to "hide" behind trees, thinking we can't see him, and he learns new tricks when treats are involved. At 45 pounds, he sometimes thinks he's a lap dog and loves to snuggle. If you have a hoodie with a front pocket, he'll put his nose in the pocket and go right to sleep. We love this good boy, but have made the tough decision to rehome Nikko as he is not thriving here. We have noticed he has some triggers (anxious and overstimulated) specific to certain situations in our very crowded neighborhood that we would love to speak with you about. He absolutely thrives in rural settings, and we would love to find a home that has that for him where he can have a large space to run and be active.

Ongoing Health

All vetting is up to date. Nikko is microchipped, neutered, and on flea/tick and heartworm preventative.

Training & Support

Nikko is crate-trained and house-trained. He is also good at communicating when he needs to go outside.
