Sentry is a delightful 6.5-month-old male Retriever/Pit Bull mix with an estimated DOB of January 2026. He currently weighs 40 pounds and is expected to be a large dog when fully grown. Sentry was rescued as a tiny puppy from a rural area known for animal abandonment. He and his mother, Wanda (pictured in his profile, she weighs about 55 pounds), along with his siblings, were found during a Texas freeze and brought to safety. He has grown up in a loving foster home and is a happy, playful, and affectionate boy. Sentry enjoys cuddles, playing with his siblings, going for walks, and chasing the water hose. He absolutely loves people and other dogs, greeting everyone with enthusiasm and affection. He's a goofy and loving companion who will make every day feel special.
Ideal Home
Sentry is looking for a home committed to positive reinforcement, building his confidence, and continuing his growth into a well-rounded adult dog. He would thrive with a family who can provide ongoing socialization, consistency, and continued leash practice. We prefer homes with another friendly, well-mannered resident dog to help mentor him, as they can teach appropriate play, communication, and boundaries. If you don't currently have a dog, please provide a detailed plan for ensuring Sentry has regular, positive canine interactions. Due to his age, we also prefer homes where someone is not routinely away for more than four to six hours at a time, as he will benefit from regular potty breaks, exercise, enrichment, training, and human interaction.

Sentry is potty trained and is continuing to learn leash skills and basic obedience. He is eager to learn and will benefit from ongoing positive reinforcement and consistency. Continued socialization with new people, places, sounds, and friendly dogs is crucial for building his lifelong confidence.

Transporation
Sentry is currently being fostered in Houston, Texas. He can be transported to an approved adopter. Transport is included in the adoption donation and runs every few weeks.
