Meet Toby, Mr. Cutie Patootie! Toby is a 6-month-old, 26-pound Carolina Corgi mix with a heart as big as his adorable ears. He was abandoned at a high-kill shelter at just four months old but was thankfully rescued and is now thriving in a loving foster home. When Toby first arrived, he was terrified of the outside world, but by watching his confident foster sisters, he's slowly come out of his shell. He now happily goes outside on leash, loves to play, and enjoys basking in the sun. Toby is shy when meeting new people and needs time to adjust, but once he feels safe, he becomes a loyal, sweet, and gentle companion who doesn't resource guard and is wonderful with other animals. He enjoys lounging on bookshelves, under desks, or near his foster siblings.
Ideal Home
Toby thrives in the company of other pets and looks to them for reassurance, so a happy, confident, playful dog in the home is required. He trusts dogs more than humans and needs a canine role model to continue building confidence. He is also a smart and quick learner but would do best in a quieter home without young children, as he expends a lot of energy observing his surroundings. A happy, confident, playful dog in the home is required. A yard that is adequately and fully fenced is a must for adoption. Electric or underground fences are not accepted.
Ongoing Health
Toby is fully vaccinated with 3 rounds of shots, neutered, and heartworm negative. He is kept on heartworm and flea preventatives.
Training & Support
Toby is currently puppy pad trained and has done an excellent job learning where to potty indoors. He is still building confidence with outdoor noises and new environments, so his potty training is focused indoors for now. He is a quick learner and is expected to transition to outdoor potty training easily with a patient family and a confident dog companion.
