Peace is a gorgeous, 8-year-old Belgian Malinois who was found in a sad state at a Broward County shelter. He was spinning and biting his tail incessantly, clearly overwhelmed by his surroundings. When MAD saw his video and heard the shelter's plea, they knew Peace was meant to be a MAD dog. His journey has been a bit bumpy, as he developed an upper respiratory infection that progressed into pneumonia. Thankfully, he pulled through and is now ready to tackle his next hurdle: heartworm treatment.
Peace's sweet and affectionate personality has already begun to shine through! He loves to lean in for pets and nuzzle his head under your arm. When he's not getting attention, he's content to lounge on a dog bed in the sun with a chew toy. While he can be crated, it does cause him stress and can trigger his spinning and tail-chasing behavior during extended periods. However, Peace is completely house-trained and has never had an accident in the home or crate. He's also non-destructive and can be left unsupervised in the house if he's the only dog, or confined to a bedroom. He has been in a guest room with various soft items and hasn't caused any damage. He doesn't scratch doors or damage any part of the home.
Peace enjoys walks and is learning to walk well on a leash. He's unfazed by people and cars, but can be reactive to loud trucks and some dogs at close range. He has been coexisting calmly with other dogs in his foster home with clear structure. He might do well with another dog in the home after slow introductions, but he would likely be happiest as the sole canine companion. He requires structure when interacting with other dogs.

Transportation
Peace is currently located in NY. MAD Rescue does not have a physical location; dogs are in private foster homes across the continental US. If you are within 4 hours of the pet's location, you will be expected to pick them up. For distances greater than 4 hours, MAD offers transport assistance for up to 350 miles for the adopter, but the adopter is primarily responsible for transport.
