Duke is a big guy with a soft heart who is looking for a family to call his own. Duke originally came to the shelter because the senior dog in his previous home wasn't a fan of his youthful energy. He recently went on a "Paw Pass" and absolutely crushed it! He proved to be an affectionate, social, and smart companion who just wants to be part of the action. Duke is an absolute superstar with children! In his previous home, he was incredibly attached to a child under 10—sleeping in their room, playing, and listening to them perfectly. On his recent Paw Pass, he did amazing with kids ages 2, 6, and 11, showing off his friendly and social nature. He is truly a family-oriented homebody who loves nothing more than being with his people. He has plenty of youthful, playful energy for regular walks and playtime, but he settles down nicely and doesn't even need to be crated when you're away. Duke loves car rides and is a total gentleman on the leash. He does great when passing other dogs on walks and has successfully made several canine friends in our shelter playgroups. Duke is highly aware of his surroundings—not as a guard dog, but just taking it all in and looking for new friends. He’s also a clever problem-solver; he actually figured out how to open a child gate to get to his people and was very proud of himself!
Ideal Home
Duke would thrive in a home with people who have plenty of time for affection, walks, and playtime. Because he is so bonded to his human family, he prefers to stick close to home rather than spending long periods outside away from his pack.
Ongoing Health

Training & Support
Duke will need a quick refresher course on housebreaking in his new home. He is food-motivated, but prefers high-value treats to get his brain working!
