Athena

Hi there! My name is Athena, and I'm a beautiful and resilient 3-year-old German Shepherd with a heart full of love to give. I've had a tough start, having been in and out of a high-kill shelter due to my previous owner only wanting me for breeding. Thankfully, I was rescued by IDGSR and am now looking for my forever home! I'm affectionate, friendly, and love exploring, whether it's a walk in the park, a hike in the mountains, or just hanging out in the yard. I'm also a big fan of tummy rubs and would be your shadow for any adventure, big or small. I'm house and kennel trained, and while I listen okay, I'm eager to learn more and would love for my new family to help me with some standard obedience training.

Ideal Home

I'd do best in a home with teenage or adult humans, and I'm good with large, male dogs. However, I do need a home without any cats.

Ongoing Health

I am spayed, up-to-date on all vaccinations, and current on heartworm testing and monthly preventatives.

Training & Support

I'm house and kennel trained and listen fairly well, but I'm ready to earn my PhD in obedience with some dedicated training from my new family!

• An application must be submitted before scheduling an appointment to meet a dog.

• All rescue work is done by volunteers, so please be respectful of their time.

Transportation

I am currently being fostered in Greeneville, TN. Transport to the East Coast is available for an additional fee.
