Meet Ernie! This handsome 8-year-old Pittie/Cattle Dog mix is around 63lbs and a true gem of a dog. Ernie was found running down a busy street and was clearly loved by his previous family. Despite being microchipped, his owner didn't want him back. Now, Ernie is in a loving foster home in Houston, TX, and is ready to find his forever family. He's a goofy, chill older gentleman who gets excited for walks and playdates. Ernie is great with all humans and animals he's met, wagging his tail and hoping to make new friends. He's a gentle playmate, happy to go with the flow and be included in the fun. He's even let his smaller foster sibling, an Aussie, boss him around! Ernie has shown interest in cats from a distance in a non-aggressive way and might be fine with feline friends who don't mind him saying hello. While he hasn't been around children, his foster believes he'd enjoy a home with them, as long as they understand he's a bigger boy. Ernie is house-trained and walks well on a leash. He's not a fan of crates and will try to escape, but he doesn't get destructive when left unsupervised. He might whine or howl for a few minutes when crated if he knows you're home, but calms down with a treat or some kind words. Ernie is a social butterfly who loves being by your side, following you from room to room. He's a wonderful fit for any home, whether it includes kids, other pets, or even if you're a first-time dog owner. This senior pup has so much love to give and is eager to join his pack!
