Rex is a joyful, playful, and energetic male Cattle Dog mix, approximately 3 years old and weighing around 35 lbs. He was rescued as a 2-month-old puppy and has spent his time growing up in a shelter, patiently waiting for his forever family. Rex is sweet and enjoys being near his people in his own gentle way, and he's always ready for a game, an exploration, or a new adventure. He's very social and gets along wonderfully with other dogs, cats, and people. Rex is also intelligent and eager to learn. He walks well on a leash, is crate trained, and would be a fantastic companion for an active family who loves the outdoors. He is the last of his litter still hoping for a home.
Ideal Home
Rex would thrive in an active home with a family that enjoys outdoor activities like running and hiking. He needs a family that can provide structure, patience, and love. A home with a fenced backyard is preferred.
Ongoing Health
Rex has a comprehensive health protocol, including a spay/neuter certificate, DHPPI and rabies vaccinations, deworming, a negative heartworm test, and monthly Nexgard Spectra preventive for fleas, ticks, and heartworms. He has a health certificate and vaccine booklet.
Training & Support
Rex is not house-trained, and this will require patience and consistency. The rescue emphasizes that due to the overwhelming number of animals, they are unable to house-train each one. Adopters are asked to allow at least three months for a rescued pet to show their best personality. Experience in dog behavior and training is highly recommended, as is high tolerance and patience for rescued puppies.
