Addie is a 4.5-year-old, spayed female pit bull terrier mix weighing around 45 pounds. She was rescued from a neighborhood known for being a dumping ground for pets, where she was found nearly hairless from mange, underweight, and having a lifetime of struggles and raising litters. Despite her past, Addie is a willing and promising pupil, quickly learning what it means to be a loved house dog and embracing her new lease on life. She's a survivor who is overflowing with love once she trusts you, proving the resilience of dogs no matter their past.
Ideal Home
Addie is looking for a home with a yard for her to roam and run in, and she would love two 20-30 minute walks per day. She dreams of having a male dog sibling of similar or larger size (40-60 lbs) to cuddle and sleep with, as she prefers male dog friends and hasn't found a female playmate she enjoys yet. Addie is in her "Soft Life Era" and would love access to plenty of couches. While she's generally gentle, it's recommended that any children in the home are old enough to understand and respect animal behavior cues, with supervised interactions encouraged until everyone is accustomed to each other.
Ongoing Health
Addie was rescued with mange and was underweight, but she is now on the road to recovery and thriving in her foster home.
Training & Support
Addie is crate trained and sleeps soundly in her crate at night and while her foster is at work for up to 8-9 hours. She has also been trusted to sleep loose in the house without issue. While she's still perfecting her house manners, she may have an occasional accident as she settles into her new routine. Addie is very food-motivated and will try to eat other dogs' food, so she needs to be fed separately. She is learning that she will receive another meal and is getting better with this. She is not super playful with other dogs, but when she does interact, she prefers male dogs of equal to bigger size and can read their cues to stop playtime.
