Hi there, I'm Jace, a 55-pound white and brown bulldog mix with a heart full of love to give! I was rescued after spending most of my life chained in a yard and suffering from starvation, which has left me with some quirks, but I'm ready for a happy new chapter. Despite my past, I'm as sweet as can be and my favorite thing in the world is snuggling up next to my favorite person for belly rubs and head scratches. I'm a smart cookie and already know "sit," "down," and "leave it." I'm highly motivated by treats, so I'm sure I could learn even more commands!
I enjoy playing with my Kong filled with kibble or peanut butter, chewing on bones, and tossing around stuffed animals. Fetch is fun, though I might need a reminder about the "give" part sometimes, and tug-of-war is a blast! I'm a loyal companion who loves to follow you around and just chill nearby. I'm a total goober and don't quite realize how big I am, often trying to plop myself in your lap just to be close.
Ideal Home
I'm looking for a home where I can be your best friend and shadow. I'm potty and crate trained and walk wonderfully on a leash. I'm not good with dogs; this is likely due to fear stemming from my past rather than true aggression. I can coexist with cats, but I do have a tendency to guard my food, so please keep my meals separate from any feline housemates.
Ongoing Health
Due to past starvation, I have a food guarding tendency that requires careful management. My right eye socket will never fill in completely due to an old injury, but it doesn't affect my vision or my sweet nature. I was heartworm positive but have completed treatment. I am neutered and up-to-date on vaccinations.
Training & Support
I'm already potty and crate trained and walk well on a leash. My food guarding is something that will need ongoing attention and management in my new home.
