Shelby is a happy, goofy, and affectionate 6-month-old Shepherd/Hound/Terrier mix, currently weighing 39 pounds. She has a long body type and is expected to be a large dog when fully grown. Shelby and her mom were rescued from a shelter in San Antonio, Texas, and have since thrived in foster care. She's a curious pup who loves to learn and is deeply connected to her people, bringing joy and warmth to every moment.
Ideal Home
Shelby would thrive in an active home that enjoys a dog's companionship and attention. She needs a family that is patient with puppy training and wants an affectionate family member to include in their adventures, whether it's hiking, walking, playing in the yard, or simply spending quality time together.

Training & Support
Shelby is still in the process of house training and has made significant progress. She is learning to communicate when she needs to go outside and is expected to master this with consistency. She sleeps through the night in her crate and tolerates it, though she prefers to be near her people and other dogs. While she can bark briefly when crated during the day, she will settle. She should not be crated excessively, as she is social and happiest when included in daily life. Shelby occasionally shows mild growling towards her sister over attention, which seems related to puppy competition rather than true resource guarding. She should continue to receive guidance on basic training, and scent-based activities might be enjoyable for her.

Transporation
Shelby is currently in a foster home in Washougal, Washington, and is available for meet and greets. Transports run every few weeks and she will be on the next available transport once approved. Transport is included in the adoption donation.
