Loki is a playful, affectionate, and incredibly loving 6.5-month-old Retriever/Pit Bull mix who currently weighs 40 pounds and is expected to be a large dog when fully grown. He was rescued with his mother, Wanda, and littermates from a rural area outside of Houston. Loki is a fearless adventurer, always the first to explore new things and entertain with his antics. He is a master climber and enjoys games of keep-away with his toys. While he has plenty of puppy energy, he's also developing into a wonderful companion, enjoying snuggles after a day of play. Loki is potty trained, though he may have a few accidents as he adjusts to a new home. He is generally confident but can be a little hesitant with new experiences, which he quickly overcomes. He loves food and will happily lead the charge for treats. Loki is great with people and other dogs, and has happily greeted children at community events. He has experience with crates and is learning leash skills and basic obedience. Loki is eager to learn and will thrive with continued positive reinforcement, consistency, and socialization.
Ideal Home
Loki would do best in a home that can provide ongoing positive reinforcement, consistency, and help him mature into an exceptional adult dog. He would benefit from a home with another friendly, well-mannered dog to help mentor him. Homes without another dog are welcome to apply if they have a solid plan for continued socialization. Loki also prefers homes where someone isn't routinely away for more than four to six hours at a time. He has not yet been tested with cats.
Ongoing Health
Loki is a young, growing puppy. No specific health conditions are noted in his description.
Training & Support
Loki is potty trained but may have occasional accidents as he adjusts to a new routine. He is working on leash skills and basic obedience and is eager to learn. Continued socialization, structured training classes, supervised daycare, and regular playdates will help him thrive.
