Ares (Photos 4/24/2026)

Ares is a handsome 2-year-old mixed breed terrier mix who came to us as a stray on April 15, 2026. He was found wandering near Vickers Road and Barth Road in Marietta, Ohio, without a collar or microchip. Ares has a sleek black coat, a long tail, and a charming face with dark brown eyes, perky ears, and a sweet smile. He's a stocky boy, and while we're still getting his official weight, he's clearly ready for a good meal and a loving home.

Ares was a bit uncertain about kennels and initially seemed wary of women. However, he's been warming up and has done well with our female staff. He truly shines when he's outside, enjoying the freedom to explore and play. He's still adjusting to shelter life, but with a little patience and kindness, he's showing us his true, trusting nature.

Ideal Home

Ares would thrive in a home where he can get plenty of enrichment and positive reinforcement. He was hesitant about being kenneled and initially seemed unsure around women, but he has since done well with our female staff.

Ongoing Health

Ares will be neutered before going to his new home.

Training & Support

Ares can be hesitant about being put in a kennel. Patience and understanding will be key to helping him settle into his new environment. He loves his time outdoors and would likely benefit from an active lifestyle.
