Potato is a gorgeous girl whose spud-like physique earned her name! She's estimated to be around 12 years old and came to us when her elderly owner could no longer care for her. Potato has made great progress, shedding from 45 lbs down to a healthier 35 lbs, and she's looking for a family to help her maintain her active lifestyle. She loves her people and can experience some separation anxiety when left alone, so she'd thrive with a retired adopter or someone who works from home. Potato is fostered with children and other dogs and does wonderfully with them. She enjoys her meals and would do best with a family who can separate her during feeding times.
Ideal Home
Potato would do best in a home where someone is around most of the day, like a retired individual or someone who works from home, due to her separation anxiety. She needs a family who will help her maintain a healthy lifestyle and can separate her during feeding times.
Ongoing Health
Potato recently underwent a dental cleaning and senior bloodwork, with all results appearing age-appropriate. She may have some diminished hearing, but it doesn't affect her daily life.
Training & Support
Potato is house-trained and leash-trained and loves her walks! She can get excited and pull towards other dogs on walks but is easily controlled. She is not kennel-trained, as she dislikes her crate, but she is not destructive when left unsupervised. Potato rides well in a car and enjoys car rides. She is good with medium to large dogs but can be a bit of a bully to small dogs. While not fostered with cats, we believe she would do fine with them. She is good with young children and has been fostered with kids under 5, doing best with those who respect her boundaries. Potato is confident and will approach visitors for attention. She does bark and is not apartment-qualified due to potential barking from separation anxiety.
