MEET VIGGO - A GENTLE GIANT FIGHTING FOR HIS SECOND CHANCE
Viggo is a handsome Great Dane who has overcome so much and is now ready for his second chance at a loving home. He arrived at a local shelter in heartbreaking condition, severely emaciated, anemic, with infected ears, and tested high heartworm positive. At one point, Viggo was so critically ill he needed a blood transfusion and nearly lost his life. His body shows the signs of prolonged neglect, with broken lower front teeth and a scarred ear from a previous hematoma. Despite everything he has endured, Viggo is a survivor and continues to fight. Encouragingly, his radiology report showed no signs of cancer, and the changes in his lungs are believed to be related to his heartworm disease. The issue with his toe appears to be from an old injury. Viggo is now safe and receiving dedicated care from his foster, Sharon, who is a longtime supporter of our organization. Viggo's road to recovery will be long, requiring continued veterinary care, proper nutrition, heartworm treatment, and time to regain his strength. Most importantly, he needs to learn that he will never again have to struggle simply to survive. We will share more about Viggo's personality as he settles in. For now, he is resting, receiving care, and is finally surrounded by people who believe his life is worth saving. Viggo needs our entire village to help him on his journey.
Ideal Home
Viggo needs a patient and committed individual or family who can provide him with a safe and loving environment. He requires a home where he can continue his recovery and receive the specialized care he needs.
Ongoing Health
Viggo is currently undergoing treatment for heartworm disease and will require ongoing veterinary care, proper nutrition, and medication. He has some broken lower front teeth and scarring on his right ear from past issues.
Training & Support
As Viggo recovers and settles in, he will need continued support and guidance to build his confidence and learn to trust. More information on his personality and specific needs will be shared as he progresses in his foster home.
