About Dirk
Meet Dirk, an adorable 7-month-old blend of Anatolian and German Shepherd, weighing in at over 70 pounds of pure charm! This goofy, soft-natured guy is a bit timid at first but has a heart full of adventure just waiting to shine. Dirk is as easy as easy comes and is a perfect social butterfly, not pushy like some shepherds. He's naturally easygoing and adaptable to any dedicated, active home. Dirk is on the lookout for a confident, social, adventurous human with another canine companion to show him the ropes, as he thrives in the company of other dogs. As a beta, Dirk is a lovely follower who goes with the flow, making him perfectly suited for a home with an established pack of two or more pups. He craves socialization and the comforting presence of a playful, outgoing dog and human too.
Despite being a goofy, happy puppy with no comprehensive understanding of his size, Dirk is surprisingly wise for his age. He thinks carefully before he acts, which means he’s easily trainable and very eager to please. He’s grown up around children and has mingled with dogs and cats of all sizes, proving he’s a social butterfly who just wants to be part of the fun! He’s currently thriving in a foster home with other dogs where he loves to explore new adventures. While Dirk may be a little shy when meeting new pals, give him a moment, and his outgoing side will shine through. He’s curious by nature, motivated by treats, and learns fast, especially when guided by other dogs. Dirk is dependent on his furry friends and is a bit clingy with humans, seeking their love and reassurance.
Ideal Home
Dirk would thrive in a home with another confident, social, and adventurous canine companion. He craves the company of other dogs and needs a pack to feel secure and flourish.
Ongoing Health
Dirk is neutered, up-to-date on all age-appropriate vaccinations, including rabies, Lepto, and Corona, and has tested negative for heartworm and Lyme disease. He receives monthly heartworm, flea, and tick prevention and has been dewormed and fecal tested negative. All testing was completed within 6-12 months. All age-appropriate needs, including blood work, dental, testing, and medications, have been addressed. He is microchipped with free unlimited updates for life.
Training & Support
Dirk is house and crate-trained and walks wonderfully on a leash. We are actively working on basic obedience and off-leash recall, with impressive progress. Continued training is essential for his ongoing success and development.
