About Gio

Gio, a 4-year-old, 78-pound black lab mix, is the king of bear hugs! This sweet and cuddly boy loves to wrap his front paws around you and will happily crawl into your lap once he knows you're a friend. Gio soaks up all the affection you have to give and is eager to be your new best friend. He's not just about cuddles, though; he also loves walks and splashing in the water, and with a little more practice, he'll be a great swimmer! Gio is great in the car and always up for an adventure, but he's just as content to chill with his favorite humans. He's excelling in obedience classes and is mastering leash walking. While he's enthusiastic about meeting new friends, he's learning to keep his excitement in check. Gio is working on his food guarding and is making good progress.

Ideal Home

Gio currently lives with three older female dogs and respects their boundaries. He does not get along with the male foster dog in his home, so a home with only female dogs or as the only dog would be the best fit. He has not been cat-tested, but could potentially be feline-friendly with proper introductions. We recommend homes with children 10 years and over for the best fit for both pet and family.

Ongoing Health

Gio is crate-trained and is working on not chewing on items when bored, but with plenty of toys and activities, he is easily entertained.

Training & Support

Gio is learning to keep his excitement in check when meeting new friends and is working on his food guarding. He's excelling in obedience classes and is mastering leash walking. The adopter will receive a few training sessions to ensure continued success.
