Alder is a handsome 3-year-old Pyrenean Shepherd mix who arrived from Texas, where the stray dog population is overwhelming. He's one of the lucky ones who made it out and is on his way to finding a loving, forever home.
Alder is a shy but friendly gentleman who craves affection and attention, even if he's not quite sure how to express his excitement yet. We suspect he'll master the Pyr paw in no time! He seems interested but unsure how to play with other dogs, so a home with a calmer, playful dog would be beneficial. Once he has a chance to decompress, we believe he'll truly come out of his shell. Alder is a bit protective of his food, so he'll need to be fed separately from other dogs. He doesn't seem to mind cats and would likely do well in a home with children who are past the screeching years. A fenced yard would be ideal, but he walks well on a leash, making a home without one acceptable as long as you're committed to daily walks. Just don't expect him to roam freely in the backyard, as he likely won't stay close to home.
Ideal Home
Alder would thrive in a home with a calmer, playful dog and children who are past the screeching years. A fenced yard would be ideal, but he is also comfortable in a home without one if he receives regular walks.
