Axel

Axel is a handsome Boxer mix, approximately 2 years old and weighing 54 lbs. He has the confident demeanor of a dog who knows what he wants and the athletic build to match. Axel was found abandoned, but he's ready to leave his past behind and find a loving home. He approaches life with a healthy dose of enthusiasm and a strong desire for companionship. Walks with Axel begin with excitement but quickly settle into a pleasant exploration once he knows you're heading somewhere. He enjoys carrying objects he deems important, like sticks or leashes, and surveying his surroundings.

Axel is a smart and practical dog, highly motivated by food and quick to learn when given clear and consistent direction. He thrives with calm, confident, and mildly amused owners who appreciate his independent spirit. He seeks direction rather than drama. Axel is friendly with people but takes a moment to assess newcomers before deciding they pass his "vibe check." He'd do best in a home with older children who understand personal space and adults who appreciate a dog with a distinct personality.

He is social with other dogs, particularly those of the opposite sex, but he doesn't need to live in a busy household to be happy. While he enjoys playtime, he can be a bit bossy, always convinced he should be in charge. Axel prefers calmer environments and is happiest when he doesn't feel he has to manage everything. He is not a fan of cats.

At home, Axel is well-behaved. He is potty trained, crate trained, and knows how to settle down once his needs are met. His energy level is moderate, and he's content with daily walks and some playtime, after which he's happy to relax and observe. While he could adapt to apartment living with sufficient exercise, he would also love a home with a yard to patrol. Axel is looking for laid-back, dog-savvy humans who understand and appreciate a dog's unique quirks and confidence. He doesn't need to be "fixed"; he needs patience, structure, humor, and someone who will embrace his spirited nature.

Axel would do best in a home with older children (10 years and up) who understand personal space, and adults who appreciate a dog with a personality. He prefers calmer environments and is not a fan of cats.

Axel is generally healthy and up-to-date on vaccinations.

Transporation

Axel is currently being fostered in Texas. Our rescue provides transportation to his perfect forever home, with transports departing weekly.
