Max

Max is a handsome 3-year-old, 16-pound terrier mix with a ton of personality just waiting to blossom! He's neutered, vaccinated, micro-chipped, heartworm negative, and on prevention. Max was a backyard dog who got out and was found. He's made great strides with his house-training and manners, and he happily uses a doggie door. He also enjoys car rides and sleeps soundly in a crate in his foster's bedroom all night. Max was tested with a cat and barked, but did not chase.

Ideal Home

Max would do best with children 9 and up. He's learning to follow human direction, so a structured and routine-oriented home would be ideal. He enjoys the company of other dogs and would do best with a slightly older, larger female dog. He can be a bit wary of strangers initially, so giving him space to warm up is important. Once he's comfortable, he's a total couch snuggle bug!

Ongoing Health

Max is up-to-date on all vaccinations and is on heartworm prevention.

Training & Support

Max knows several commands, including Sit, Down, Let's Go (for loose-leash walking), Come, and Place (to relax on a designated spot). He's a smart boy who loves to train for treats! He comes with 3 in-home private lessons through Open Gates Training. Max will thrive with an experienced adopter who can provide a consistent, stable routine and has experience managing dogs who require confident leadership. The reward for this dedication is immeasurable: a wonderful companion who will reach his full potential.

Max is currently in a foster home in the Austin area. We are unable to adopt outside of the Austin area.
