Meet Balki! This handsome 5-year-old, 75-pound boy is searching for his forever family after his previous owner could no longer care for him due to health reasons. Balki is a gentle, affectionate soul who thrives on companionship. He loves a good game of fetch, has a soft spot for his Nerf Sonic balls and Nylabones, and enjoys leisurely walks, car rides, and plenty of belly rubs. Balki is a smart cookie who already knows sit, down, and wait. He's also fully crate-trained, sleeps soundly in his crate, and patiently waits for his cue before enjoying his meals. He's a pro at bath time, brushing, teeth brushing, paw wiping, and is happy to share his favorite toys. His love for food and eagerness to learn make him a fantastic training partner!

Ideal Home

Balki has done well with a medium-sized female dog in the past and enjoyed doggie daycare. While he can be a bit leash-reactive and needs careful introductions to new canine friends, he has the potential to thrive with the right match and is comfortable in group dog classes. Because he sometimes forgets his own size when he gets excited, he might not be the best fit for homes with very young children or dogs who might be overwhelmed by his exuberance.

Ongoing Health

Balki takes medication for bladder control, which has been very successful, and he has had no further issues.

Training & Support

Balki would benefit from continued training to reinforce polite greetings and manage leash reactivity.
