About Hera

Hera may have crash-landed at ACL after being hit by a car, but she has not let that get her down! This smart, sassy, sweet girl has recovered from her injuries and is finally ready for her forever home. Hera loves learning and training! She's very food-motivated and eager-to-please, and she picks up new cues exceptionally quickly when rewarded with snacks. Hera's fosters say "She's the sweetest, most resilient little girl! She's going to be a loyal companion to a very lucky person!" Hera is 46 lbs and has been spayed, microchipped, and is up to date on all her vaccines.

Ideal Home

Hera enjoys playing with her toys, going on walks, and getting plenty of petting. She dislikes being left out of the fun! Hera is good with older kids (ages 13-18) but can be a little much for small children. Her cat sociability is unknown. She likes other dogs but is still working on her manners when meeting them, so she would do best with a tolerant canine companion or would be happy as the only dog in the home.

Ongoing Health

Hera's front right leg was amputated after being hit by a car. She gets around well on three legs but it's important to keep her at a healthy weight to reduce strain on her remaining joints. We recommend monitoring Hera for signs of arthritis or joint pain as she ages.

Training & Support

Hera is housebroken and will potty outside every time or nearly every time. She is currently working on crate training and may vocalize for up to 30 minutes before settling. Hera is also still learning about leash walking and will need continued positive reinforcement training. She is very food-motivated and eager to please, picking up new cues quickly.
