Meet Rufus, a 2-year-old, 22lb Cockapoo/Shih Tzu mix who is as smart and sweet as he is handsome! This fluffy charmer was found wandering the streets of Texas, a bit of a scruffy mess, but even then, his tail never stopped wagging. Now cleaned up and safe, Rufus is showing his true colors: joyful, clever, and incredibly affectionate. He's the perfect "pick me up" size and absolutely lives for belly rubs!
Ideal Home
Rufus is a ball of enthusiasm and would thrive in a home with active humans. While he loves other dogs and would do well with a canine companion, he can also be an only dog. Due to his exuberance, he's best suited for a home with children aged 10 and older.
Ongoing Health
Rufus is fully vetted and ready for his forever home! He has been neutered, microchipped, is heartworm negative, and up-to-date on all his vaccinations.
Training & Support
Rufus is a smart boy who knows "sit" and is eager to learn more. He's crate trained and house-trained when kept on a schedule. He comes when called and is always trying to figure things out, showing he truly wants to be a good boy.

Transportation
Rufus is currently in Houston, TX, but we arrange transport to bring our "out of town" pets to loving homes. Transport is provided via scheduled, air-conditioned vans by AJC Rescue & Transport. You will be included in a group chat to track Rufus's journey and receive exact arrival times. Please note that traffic and weather can affect arrival times, and you will be kept updated. Dogs on transport stop for necessary breaks and are crated for safety.
