About Machika

Machika is a sweet Akita mix, about 2–3 years old and weighing 53 lbs. She’s calm, loving, and truly enjoys the simple joys of life—walks on a leash, relaxing car rides as the perfect co-pilot, and running freely in the garden with her doggy friends. She can be a little selective with other dogs and does best in a cat-free home, but she’s always eager to share her gentle nature with people. Machika’s past was not easy—she spent much of her life on the streets, facing cold nights and even abuse. Thanks to kind neighbors, she began receiving food and care, and eventually, she was rescued. Despite everything she endured, Machika blossomed into a trusting, affectionate dog who longs for human companionship. She was once abandoned, but Machika truly deserves a real home, filled with love and security, where she’ll never again feel loneliness or fear. Machika is ready to be the loyal, loving companion you’ve been dreaming of.

Ideal Home

Machika would thrive in a home with a tall, fenced backyard where she can run freely. An active family that enjoys outdoor activities would be a great match for her energy. She needs a home that is cat-free.

Ongoing Health

Machika has received the following health treatments: Spay/Neuter Certificate, 2 shots of DHPPI Vaccine, Rabies Vaccine, Bordetella Vaccine, Deworming, Microchipping, 4DX Test and Certificate, Heartworm test Negative Certificate, and monthly Nexgard Spectra (fleas, ticks, and heartworm) preventive protection. She also has a Health Certificate and a Vaccines booklet.

Training & Support

It's important to understand that rescued dogs like Machika may require an adjustment period in a new home. Patience and understanding are crucial as she may have fears or anxieties due to past experiences and needs time to adapt. Providing a safe and loving environment, establishing a routine, and clear boundaries will help her feel secure. Machika is not house-trained, and adopters should be prepared for this. Previous experience with dog behavior and training is preferred, or a willingness to hire a trainer is highly recommended to help this intelligent dog thrive.

Transportation

Machika is currently being fostered in Saltillo, Mexico. She is available for transport to the East Coast as part of our next cross-country trip. We organize 3-4 trips per year with a contracted transport company. The cost for transportation from Mexico to your home is $400 USD. Our transport team will deliver your pet directly to your home address and conduct a final home review.
