Tommy

Tommy is a sweet, approximately 10-month-old terrier mix, weighing around 27 lbs and expected to reach about 37 lbs. He was born on April 10, 2024, after his pregnant mother was rescued and brought to our shelter in Matamoros, Mexico. Tommy is a docile, affectionate, playful, and loving boy who is learning to trust people, though he can be a bit shy and nervous around new individuals. He's very active and enjoys running and playing with his dog friends.

Ideal Home

Tommy would thrive in a home with families who have an open conscience about the needs of rescued street animals and understand their need for protection and education. A home with experience in dog behavior and training, and a high tolerance and patience for rescued puppies, would be ideal. Please realize that our rescued dogs may have been traumatized before coming to us and may require an adjustment period in their new home. Patience and understanding are a must.

Ongoing Health

Tommy has undergone a comprehensive health protocol, including being spayed/neutered, receiving two DHPPI vaccines, a rabies vaccine, and a Bordetella vaccine. He has also been dewormed, microchipped, and tested negative for heartworm. He receives monthly Nexgard Spectra for flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. A health certificate and vaccination booklet are available.

Training & Support

Tommy is not house-trained. As he is a rescue, he may need time to decompress and integrate into a new home. Patience and understanding are key.

Transportation

Tommy is currently being fostered in Matamoros, Mexico, and is ready to travel to the East Coast on our next cross-country trip. Transport to the adopter's home address on the East Coast is available for an additional fee.
