Diamond in the Rough: Meet Twix!

If you walked past Twix's kennel today, you might keep walking. You'd hear the barking and see the "tough guy" act, and you'd think, "Not that one." But you'd be missing out on the best dog in the building. Twix is a 2-year-old Australian Shepherd/Blue Heeler mix who has spent over a year behind bars. For Twix, that kennel isn't a home - it's a scary place he feels he has to defend. His "aggression" is actually just a big, loud "I'm Scared!" from a sensitive boy who hasn't found his person yet. The real Twix is a perfect travel buddy who loves car rides and is always ready for an adventure. He is good with other dogs and people after a low-key introduction, but it's a big NO to cats. He's a dream on the leash – no pulling, just happy vibes. Being an Aussie/Heeler blend, he is incredibly loyal and smart. He just needs a job and a couch. He's 45lbs of pure muscle, fully vaccinated, and at the prime age of 2.

Ideal Home

Twix needs a patient adopter who understands that first impressions aren't everything. He is not suited for a home with cats.

Twix is fully vaccinated and is 2 years old.

Training & Support

Twix's "aggression" is a result of his fear in the kennel environment and he needs an adopter who understands this. Once he's out of the shelter environment, that insecurity melts away, revealing the sweet, medium-sized companion he was always meant to be. "He's a completely different dog once he's on the grass. He just needs someone to give him the chance to show it."
