Your Woodland Adventure Buddy with a Snuggly Side
Dewey is a handsome, approximately 2-year-old, 45-50 pound Carolina Dog mix who is ready for both woodland adventures and cozy mornings. He's a smart boy who loves to engage his mind with games like hide-and-seek and treat puzzles. Dewey's favorite pastime is sniffing, whether he's exploring the yard on a long line or taking in all the scents on a hike. He especially loves snow and will bound through it with pure joy! Dewey also has a playful, goofy side and has learned to enjoy his squeaky ball and tug games. He happily occupies himself with collagen rolls and sturdy chews.
Dewey thrives with structure and routine inside the home. He patiently waits at the door before walks, is crate trained and settles well, enjoys relaxing on his place mat, and loves slow, cozy morning snuggles.
Dewey does experience leash reactivity toward passing dogs, people, and bicycles. His foster has been working thoughtfully with him, and he is improving, but he will need a confident, dog-savvy adopter committed to continuing positive reinforcement training and mindful threshold management.
Ideal Home
Dewey would thrive with someone who appreciates both adventure and structure – someone who wants a dog to hike with, train with, and then relax beside at the end of the day. He needs a home without young children, and an experienced adopter. A calm, structured environment is recommended, and a yard for sniffing and enrichment is a big plus.
Ongoing Health
No specific health conditions are mentioned.
Training & Support
Dewey is crate trained, food motivated, highly intelligent, affectionate, loyal, active but able to settle. He does need continued work on his leash reactivity through positive reinforcement training and mindful threshold management.
