Dude

Dude is a shy but curious 3-year-old beagle mix. He's been doing well with his crate and potty training, and is learning what it's like to be a house dog. Dude was found alone in the middle of the night, scared and wet. He had no microchip and was terrified of everything. Since then, he's been making great progress in his foster home! He's doing well with his foster mom's two German Shepherds and is starting to show his playful side. It's unknown if he's good with cats, as his foster kitty sibling hides from him. Dude has experience with children as young as five. He still has some anxiety and trust issues to work through, but he's getting much better every day.

Ideal Home

Dude needs a patient and understanding home that will give him the time and space he needs to learn to trust. He MUST have secure, escape-proof fencing or be walked on a leash for all outdoor potty breaks and activities. Due to his beagle nature, he will follow scents and may try to slip his collar, so no tie-outs are allowed. He would do best with a canine companion, as he will bark constantly if left alone without a human or dog friend.

Training & Support

Dude is working through some anxiety and trust issues. He cringes when he thinks he's in trouble and can be scared of loud noises or voices. He enjoys chewing, so he'll need to be crated when left unsupervised and monitored around destructive items. With patience and positive reinforcement, he is a loving companion.
