Howie is a friendly, young Great Pyrenees who was born on January 27, 2023. He ended up in a shelter because his previous owners couldn't contain him in their fenced yard and feared for his safety. While he previously lived well with young children, he needs a home where he can thrive. He would do best as a solo dog or with a female canine companion, as he tended to bully the unneutered male dog he lived with. Howie is housebroken and eager to learn, though his independent nature means he benefits from consistent training to build a strong bond between you.
Ideal Home
Howie needs a home with a securely fenced yard that is at least 6 feet high and accessible directly from the house. Invisible fencing is not suitable for Great Pyrenees as they will ignore it. He must be an inside pet with outside privileges.
Ongoing Health
Howie was not neutered at the time of his surrender. While the listing does not specify if he has been neutered since, this is something to consider. Any veterinary expenses incurred during the trial period are the adopter's responsibility unless pre-approved by the shelter.
Training & Support
Obedience training is recommended for all newly adopted Great Pyrenees to foster a strong bond and ensure good behavior. Great Pyrenees are known for their independent thinking.
