Huey is a handsome, athletic, and personable 2-year-old who weighs about 56 lbs. We suspect he's a Labrador mix, but as a rescue, this can't be guaranteed. Huey has wonderfully expressive ears and a tail that wags with enthusiasm. He has been living in a foster home, where he's learned valuable skills to prepare him for his forever family. He's incredibly smart and motivated, responding well to confident leadership. Huey thrives with boundaries and has mastered crate training, is house-trained, and knows how to settle indoors. He enjoys being a quiet shadow, following his people around and simply being close. He's also an adventurous spirit, ready to join you on mountain trails or for a quick ride around town. Huey rides well in the car and enjoys a good breeze. After his adventures, he loves a good nap on the couch. While affectionate, he's not overly needy, offering a perfect balance of companionship.
Ideal Home
Huey would thrive in a home with a securely fenced yard where he can run and play freely. Apartment living is not suitable for him, nor is a fast-paced or busy city environment. While he enjoyed a busy family home with children and even lived harmoniously with seven other dogs, long-term living with children is not ideal for him. He enjoys visiting with kids and being their fun playmate, but he prefers a peaceful home environment to relax in afterward.

Huey is up-to-date on all vetting as outlined in his adoption fee. As with any rescue, we cannot guarantee perfect health.
Training & Support
Huey has a common rescue dog quirk: he does not like other dogs attempting to eat his food (resource guarding). This is easily managed by feeding him in his crate or in a separate space. Alternatively, a one-dog household would eliminate this concern entirely. He responds well to clear boundaries and consistency.

Transporation
Huey is available for adoption anywhere in the US. We can transport to locations near or into NV, MT, CO, UT, ID, OR, WA, Canada, and the East Coast. Our PNW transports are handled by a USDA-licensed semi-truck with air conditioning and dedicated attendants. East Coast transport is via a private, air-conditioned 3LP-run van or bus. We help find the closest transport pickup location to you and provide updates and photos of the journey.
