Brownie

Brownie is a 4-year-old, 35 lb male Labrador mix who was rescued as a puppy and suffered from severe mange. This has left him with some scars and patches of white fur. He's an energetic and anxious boy who loves to chew and has worn teeth from gnawing on things. Brownie knows how to use a crate but becomes very stressed when confined. He hasn't been leash-trained yet and can be anxious during transport. Despite his challenges, Brownie is extremely social and affectionate. He loves people, visitors, and attention, and is very playful, though he tends to destroy toys quickly! He has a funny fascination with water and loves to play in it whenever he can. After 4 years in a shelter and never having experienced a walk, we truly believe that with exercise, structure, patience, and love, Brownie could thrive in a home environment. He's a sweet, friendly dog looking for a committed adopter willing to help him channel his energy and give him the life he deserves. Please remember that rescued dogs may have experienced trauma and need time, patience, and understanding to adjust to a new home and build trust.

Ideal Home

Brownie needs a home with a fenced backyard and an active family that enjoys outdoor activities. He would do best with families who have experience in dog behavior and training, or are willing to hire a trainer. He requires high tolerance and patience, especially for a rescued dog. He is NOT house trained.

Ongoing Health

Brownie is up-to-date on his vaccinations, microchipped, dewormed, and has been tested for heartworm and other common diseases. He is on monthly flea, tick, and heartworm prevention.

Training & Support

Brownie is not leash-trained and needs work on his chewing habits. He is not house-trained and requires significant patience and understanding as he adjusts to a new environment. Hiring a professional trainer is highly recommended.

Transportation

Brownie is currently being fostered in Saltillo, Mexico. He is available for transport to the East Coast via scheduled trips. A transport fee of $400 USD applies.
