My name is Miss Sammy and I'm a sweet, soulful girl who's ready to find my forever family! I had a bit of a rough start when my truck driver dad could no longer take me on the road with him. After a long journey from Ohio to Minnesota, I landed with my loving foster family. It took me a little while to adjust, but I've really opened up and am now a devoted companion, often following my foster mom around like a shadow.
My favorite thing in the world is playing with the kids! They squeak my toys and rustle paper, and I get so excited that I sometimes bark to ask for more playtime. I discovered a love for fetch, and I'm happy to bring the ball back to you. However, I don't think playing fetch with other dogs is the best idea, as I can get a bit protective of my toys. I also tend to food guard, so I eat separately from other dogs. Despite these quirks, I'm generally chill and get along well with my foster dog sibling.
I'm a solid 60-65lbs, and while I might look small, I'm quite sturdy! I'm happy sleeping on my own dog bed, but I might whine a little to get on the big bed. I'm not a huge fan of my kennel at first, but I do settle down and nap. I walk nicely on a leash and don't pull. I can be a bit vocal when I see other dogs or things moving outside the car, but my foster mom believes this might be due to my recent move. I'm a smart, playful, and calm companion who will surely melt your heart with my soulful gaze!
Ideal Home
A home where I can be the center of attention and have plenty of playtime with my humans. I would do best in a home without other dogs to avoid potential resource guarding during playtime and meal times.
Ongoing Health
I'm healthy and the vet found no signs of arthritis, though I do need to lose about 5lbs.
Training & Support
I am a well-trained dog and easy to have around. I can be a little slow going up stairs. I do bark at other dogs and when riding in the car.
