Bear Buddy Heart

Bear is a handsome, confident, and people-loving 1-year-old, 60lb pittie mix with a big personality! He approaches life with enthusiasm and curiosity, and is eager to learn and engage. Bear is treat-motivated, making him a joy to train. He absolutely shines with his people skills, seeking connection in a warm and easy way. He's happy to be by your side or just lounging nearby, and is already house and crate trained! Bear is still a bit of a puppy, so he's working on managing his excitement on leash, especially around other dogs. He responds well to clear and consistent guidance. With other dogs, Bear is social and interested, but can bring a bit too much puppy enthusiasm. He has shown he can be respectful once he knows another dog, even living peacefully with a feisty chihuahua. He would do best with a confident, calm, larger female dog who won't be overwhelmed by his playfulness. Bear has shown curiosity and restraint with cats, and with slow introductions and a dog-savvy feline friend, he could likely live peacefully with a cat. He's active and engaged without being overly hyper, and will thrive in a home that provides regular exercise, mental stimulation, and ongoing training, especially with enrichment puzzles. Bear is a good dog with a big heart and a sweet personality, just waiting to learn all the rules. He's incredibly rewarding to train and watch grow, and is definitely worth the effort!

Ideal Home

Bear would do well in a home that can provide regular exercise, mental stimulation, and ongoing training. He would also do well with a confident, calm, larger female dog. A dog-savvy, confident cat with slow introductions could also be a good fit.

Ongoing Health

Bear is up-to-date on all vetting, which includes DAPP with booster, Bordetella, Rabies vaccine, multiple broad spectrum deworming treatments, spay/neuter, flea prevention, a 12 month heartworm preventative injectable, heartworm test and treatment if needed, and a microchip with free lifetime registration.

Training & Support

Bear is working on leash manners and managing his excitement around other dogs. He responds well to corrections and can settle with clear, consistent handling. He also needs continued guidance to refine his play style with other dogs to ensure he isn't too pushy.

Transportation

Bear is located in Texas. Transport is available nationwide through our rescue's USDA certified transport system with drop-off locations in WA, UT, OR, ID, VA, PA, OH, NY, CT, VT, TN, KY, WI, MN, IL, WI and Canada. A $87 surcharge applies for transport. Texas adopters must pick up from the Houston area.
