Sam is a beautiful German Shepherd mix with one blue eye and one brown eye, and a gentle soul who is still learning that the world can be a safe place. Around 4 years old and weighing 61 lbs, Sam is currently working through confidence-building training and making steady progress. She can be shy and skittish with new people, especially men, and fast or overhead movements can make her nervous. Because of this, slow introductions and calm, patient handling are extremely important for her success. Sam is participating in group classes and benefits greatly from structure, consistency, and positive guidance. While she may initially seem unsure, she is intelligent, responsive, and trying hard to build trust and confidence. She will need an active home that can provide regular walks, enrichment, engagement, and continued structure. Sam appears to do best with social support and may benefit from living with another stable dog rather than being an only dog. Her ideal adopter will be patient, experienced, and willing to continue helping her build confidence at her own pace. Sam is not the type of dog who will instantly trust everyone she meets, but for the right person, earning that trust will be incredibly rewarding.
