Elsa is a resilient and loving Pit Bull Terrier mix who is looking for her forever home. She's a true survivor, with a story that will bring you to tears. Elsa was found dumped in our back shelter play yards on one of the coldest days of the year, extremely emaciated, cold, and almost unresponsive. Thanks to the incredible care from our medical staff and amazing vet partners, she has bounced back and is now ready to find a loving family.
Ideal Home
Elsa is very food-motivated, a trait that makes her a great candidate for training. However, this also means she's become quite resourceful when looking for snacks. To ensure her safety and prevent her from getting into pantries or on counters, she will need to be crated when unsupervised. Elsa can be stiff and unhappy when meeting other dogs at the shelter, and at this time, would likely prefer to be the only dog in the home. She showed curiosity towards cats initially and then ignored them, suggesting she might be okay in a multi-pet home with feline friends. Information about her interactions with children is currently unknown.
Ongoing Health
Elsa was on prescription food to help her reach a healthy weight. She is heartworm negative.
Training & Support
Elsa's strong food motivation makes her an excellent candidate for training! Treats and food are high-value items for her, and she's very eager to please. Remember to keep her food secured and provide a safe space for her when she's home alone.
