About Annie

Annie is a sweet, spunky Shih Tzu and poodle mix pup, approximately 3-4 months old and weighing 7 lbs. She's estimated to reach about 20 lbs when fully grown. Annie is affectionate, loving, and truly adores being doted on. Her natural curiosity means she's always the first to investigate new things, making her a confident and observant explorer. She's a social butterfly who loves meeting new people and furry friends, making her a perfect companion for an active family that enjoys including their pup in everyday adventures. Annie's adaptable and happy demeanor means she'll be a good time whether she's playing with other dogs, cuddling with her foster mom, or enjoying her toys. She’s playful and curious when it’s time for fun, but also mellow and ready to relax on the couch. Annie is also great at entertaining herself, keeping busy with her toys or napping until playtime. She’d fit beautifully into many types of homes, whether you’re an active family that enjoys the outdoors or prefer cozy evenings at home. As long as she’s with her people, Annie is content and ready for anything!

Ideal Home

Annie is a medium-energy pup with short bursts of puppy enthusiasm that are easily managed with brief play sessions. She enjoys mental stimulation games with treats, exploring the backyard, and chasing her toys. She absolutely loves playing with other dogs and her face lights up when she meets new canine friends. Annie would thrive in a home with a playful, friendly dog, or she'd be happy to be the center of attention in a home without other pets, as long as she gets plenty of interaction. If she is the only dog, frequent playdates or doggy daycare would be beneficial for continued positive socialization. While she's learned to respect boundaries with older dogs, she might be too much for a senior dog unaccustomed to puppy energy. Annie would also do well with children of all ages who can play fetch and cuddle with her. However, she can be wiggly when excited and picked up, so she’d do best with older children who know how to handle smaller breeds carefully to avoid accidentally dropping her. Since she's starting to teeth, her humans will need to keep an eye out to prevent her from chewing on human toys. She is friendly towards cats and would do well in a home with a cat that is comfortable around dogs and has lived with them before, as Annie is a playful puppy. She’d love a home with a toy box full of squeaky toys, ropes, and chew toys, and would be thrilled with new surprises to help with teething. She'll be excited to go on adventures, including casual neighborhood walks and longer nature trails. She would love to join you for hikes, splashes by the water, or strolls through town. Annie’s ideal home includes a fenced yard for safe play and exercise, and she’d love it if her human works from home or has a hybrid schedule. If her humans work outside the home, a midday dog walker or doggy daycare is recommended, as she cannot go more than 8 hours without playtime and potty breaks. She would love to have fun adventures, whether it’s exploring around town or visiting Sniff Spots for enrichment. She would be happiest being included in her family's daily life and receiving plenty of love, exercise, and attention. She would not do well in public dog parks.

Training & Support

Annie is kennel trained and potty trained. She sleeps in her kennel at night without any fuss and will also nap in her kennel with the door open during the day. She loves to go on outings in her neighborhood, carried in a doggy pouch. She is doing well with potty training and will alert her foster family that she needs to go outside by circling at the back door. Using a doggy doorbell by the back door is recommended to help her learn to signal when she needs to go out. She will need a consistent potty and exercise schedule initially, being taken out every few hours, but she picks up on new routines quickly. She has started on leash training and will need additional practice to perfect her leash walking skills in her forever home. She would love to snuggle up in bed with her humans every night as she gets older.
