Meet Skipper! If you're searching for a spirited and active canine companion to complement your lifestyle, your search ends here with our wonderful Skipper! Skipper joined our rescue family over two years ago, making her one of our cherished long-term residents. She arrived with an injury to her front leg, which unfortunately required amputation. In the past two years, Skipper has made a remarkable recovery and has blossomed into a dog with delightful quirks and a personality that shines brightly for those she trusts.
Skipper is a charming black and white pup, and as you'll see, she's a brave tripod! Her absolute favorite pastime is playing fetch, and she's the go-to dog when anyone needs a fun companion to entertain them. Skipper has impressive stamina for fetch and would be a perfect match for a baseball or softball enthusiast. Once she's had her fill of play, Skipper reveals her affectionate side and loves to snuggle up close to her favorite people.
Skipper is making great progress with basic commands like 'sit,' 'down,' and 'leave it.' She's still working on her leash manners, but she excels when using a head halter and responds wonderfully to commands and treats, which help redirect her enthusiasm for pulling. Skipper prefers to be the only pet in the household, as she's not comfortable with other dogs or cats. She might take a little time to warm up to new people, but a few tasty treats and a squeaky ball should help her feel at ease. Given her past experiences with humans, she needs a bit of patience to build trust, but once she does, it's playtime with this incredible pup!
Skipper has bravely overcome her leg injury and has entertained us all with her sporty spirit. Now, she's dreaming of a loving home where she can relax and enjoy life. Could that be with you?
Ideal Home
Skipper would do best as the only pet in the home. She needs extra time to get to know new people, but treats and a ball can help her warm up.
Ongoing Health
Skipper's front leg was amputated and she has fully healed.
Training & Support
Skipper is learning basic commands and needs additional training on leash walking, though she does well with a head halter. She responds well to positive reinforcement.
