Leo is an estimated 5-year-old male Shepherd mix with a slight build who was rescued as a stray from California. He joined us in Seattle on 10/10 with his mom and sibling. Leo was returned to us a couple of years later due to a divorce in the family; he was lacking socialization and training at that time. He was then fostered with a trainer for several weeks and is now thriving and ready for a loving forever home.
Leo has made wonderful progress during his time in foster care. Initially, he was moderately reactive, but he quickly blossomed into a friendly, tail-wagging, and bouncy boy. Leo is, in a word, eccentric! He's a cuddle bug and a hermit, assuming the oddest positions imaginable to get close to his people. He is perfectly crate-trained and enjoys the safe environment the crate provides. If you are unwilling to provide Leo with a crate, he is not the right fit for your home, as he needs his escape and downtime to be his best self. Leo warms up slowly to new people and dogs, and his new owners should be selective with dog introductions, as he can react if confronted and dislikes in-your-face dog encounters. He plays well with a male Collie and a male Malinois and has a truce with a selective female Bulldog. He lives with cats and is completely disinterested in them, making him cat-friendly. Leo will never be a dog park dog, so dog parks are a no-go. We do not have children in our household, so we have no awareness of how he would do with them. He has no food aggression but is still working on taking treats gently. Leo will be a great hiking buddy and walks beautifully on leash. He doesn't exhibit stranger danger, but the policy will likely be, "Please don't pet my dog without proper introductions."
