Adelaide

Adelaide is a young, DNA-tested terrier mix with a flair for the dramatic, much like an opera singer! She was found in downtown Portland last winter in rough condition, unable to walk due to luxated patellae in her hind legs. After surgery on her left hind leg, she's now galloping on hiking trails with enthusiasm and zero issues. Her right hind patella still luxates but pops back in on its own, and we're optimistic that building muscle through exercise will help. While she may need future surgery, rescue will support her either way. She's house and crate trained, a great car rider, and excellent on leash with fantastic recall off-leash during hikes. Adelaide is vocal when excited and might do best as an only dog, as she can be bossy with other dogs, though she's never shown aggression.

Ideal Home

Adelaide thrives on adventure, especially hiking! She gets over-excited and can be noisy, so she needs a home without apartments, condos, or townhomes. She might do best as an only dog due to her vocal bossiness with other pets, though she has never shown any aggression.

Ongoing Health

Adelaide underwent surgery on her left hind leg with implants to address luxated patellae. Her right hind patella also luxates but self-corrects. While future surgery is a possibility for the right leg, it's not guaranteed, and rescue will offer financial assistance if needed.

Training & Support

Adelaide is house and crate trained, rides well in the car, and is good on leash with excellent recall. She can be very noisy when excited or anticipating a walk. We are hoping this vocal excitement will tone down as she matures.
